I really value test knitting in addition to tech editing. The tech editor is meant to find all the errors and inconsistencies. A test knitter, on the other hand, helps me improve the knitting experience. I can see how the grading is working on real bodies, what parts of the pattern cause confusion, and what modifications / notes may be needed. Thankfully, they also catch any straggling errors and typos.
A few changes we made this time around:
-Adding marker placements in the construction overview images
-Adding 2 charts for the front edges once neckline shaping is complete
-Specified that crochet abbreviations are using US terminology (Added to my style guide for all future patterns)
-Adding notes for adjusting the armhole depth
The most common issue we encountered was the armholes being too deep. For several test knitters, row gauge was closer to 36/37 rows in 4” / 10 cm, compared to the 38 the pattern was graded with. That small difference added up. A significant part of the back and fronts are worked straight without shaping, so adding the notes about armhole depth there should alleviate this issue for future knitters.
Without further ado, here are some of the stunning Lace Whimsy Vest test knitters.

Tram Bui (@Giavafe)
Size 1.
Knit in a cashmere blend (50% Polyester, 30% Viscose, 10% Cashmere, 10% Wool).
Tram Bui shortened the length of the vest. I really love how the vest is paired with a sheer top in the first photo, and then worn on its own in the second.
Nicole Kimble (@woolandfabricmaking)
Size 6 without bust darts.
Nicole added a bit of waist shaping in the body. Worn with a simple tee, the vest adds a little extra to the outfit.
Knit in Yarn Bee Merino Superwash (100% Merino).
“This is such a beautiful piece to knit and wear. This could be an heirloom piece or something gifted for a special occasion, it’s truly stunning! The lace motif is easy to repeat and memorize so don't let the lace work deter you!”
Ashley (@Im_Trying_To_Knit)

I really like the color combination Ashley went with for this outfit.

Knit in laceweight silk cotton (80% Cotton, 20% Silk). Lace held double.
Joce added A-line body shaping. There’s so much I adore about this outfit, the pairing with the lightwash jeans, and the color combo with a crop top, it’s just so cute and bright.
“I love this pattern and my finished vest! The pattern was easy to follow and a breeze to work through.”
Claire (@theshonkystitch)
Size 4 with short rows.
Knit in Infinity Hearts Baby Merino (100% Wool).
Claire shortened the body and added short rows to the underarms for a bit more coverage.
“I loved this test , it looks way more complicated than it is. If you want to do something fancy the best way is to learn is to knit this. Celine and the pattern have got you covered . I can’t wait to wear this and already want to go back and knit the dark coloured one!”
Here’s what a few more test knitters had to say:
"Becoming a test knitter for Celine is a great experience for having perfect detailed designs. The fit is always excellent. The outcome is always wearable.” -Sema, Size 3.
“oh i can see myself wearing this a lot! and mixing ang matching with different types of garments. I absolutely love the vest! and I can really say, the pattern is easy to follow, very detailed indeed” -Joyce, Size 1.
”Celine is a truly talented designer, her pieces are always stunning and feminine, and this one is no exception. I think I’ll wear this garment a lot throughout the year—it’s really versatile, looking great with a t-shirt or long sleeve when it’s chilly, and also over a dress during warmer weather.
I really love the pattern, it’s not only beautiful but also calming and easy to remember. The all-over lace might seem intimidating at first, but it’s actually really easy to get the hang of. So don't be scared to give it a try if this is your first lace project!
The instructions itself are really clear with charts and also an overview of the pattern, so it really holds your hand through the knitting process. One of my favorite features is the crochet edging, I think it’s the perfect finishing touch for this piece. Plus, there's a section in the pattern that goes over different modifications, allowing you to customize it as much as you'd like.
Overall, it’s a lovely, versatile design that would be a great addition to any wardrobe!” -Vicky, Size 1.
