I had another incredible team of test knitters for the Rib It Camisole. A variety of experience levels, both in knitting and with my patterns in particular were represented in the test knit. Which meant I received really great feedback from a variety of perspectives.
The construction is straightforward, but the shifting pattern stitches make it a knit that needs to be paid attention to. It’s much easier to knit if reading your knitting and maintaining a stitch pattern while shaping comes easily to you. It was significantly more difficult for test knitters who struggled a bit with this. Thanks to their feedback the charts were considerably improved. Both the charts and the instructions now feature color coded stitch markers, to easily discern between the neckline and the underarm.
Alix (@AuFilDeLaPatience)
Size 2, 3 cm bust dart.
Knit in Phil Green by Phildar (70% Cotton, 30% Nylon).
Alix did not work the I-Cord hedging and joined the front neckline 8 rows later than described in the pattern.
”This is a quick but very engaging knit! Wake up your brain cells and you will end up with a beautifully fitting summer top!”
Morgan (@_knittynerd)
Size 5, 7 cm bust dart.
Knit in Lang Yarns Lino (100% linen).
”A relatively fast and interesting knit, great fit and customizations available”
Heidi (@He1Dul1)
Size 8, 7 cm bust darts.
Knit in Novita Jasmin (60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic).
Heidi chose to size down for the bust short rows due to the weight of the garment, doubled the length of the hem, and worked the I-cords on even smaller needles than the ribbing.
“Don’t be scared of the pattern’s length; just follow your size and do exactly as instructed. Everything is thought for you by the designer. This camisole knits up fast, and you end up with a perfectly tailored garment, so I warmly recommend knitting one or a few for yourself”
Tram Bui (@Giavafe)
Size 2, without bust darts.
Knit in Yarn Bee Tweed Indeed Confectii (46% acetate, 46% cotton, 6% viscose, 2 % polyester).
Tram followed the pattern for straight body and skipped the UA shifting for the straight body portion.
Isabella (@isabellknits)
Size 2, without bust darts.
Knit in Viking Garn Bambino held double (50% Rayon, 50% Cotton).
Isabella worked the Icord edging on the neckline only, and substituted 2x2 rib for the trim at the hem.
“This is a fast camisole on bigger needles than usual for a summer garment, but you still get a summer appropriate garment if you choose a plant based (or silk) yarn. That makes it perfect if you want to have a summer garment “quickly”, it could be your last camisole before summer ends or the perfect gift-knit :)”
Victoria (@Ohhenry280)
Size 5, 4” bust dart.
Knit in Estelle Silk Harmony (50% silk, 30% wool, 20% cotton)
Victoria worked the I-cord edging on the neckline only. Victoria chose size 5 based on upper chest, resulting in 4” of negative ease at the bust, and started the waist shaping sooner.
Marina (@RapunzelFiberArts)
Size 9, with bust darts.
Knit in Jody Long Coastline (33% Cotton, 28% Rayon, 27% Nylon, 12% Linen).
Marina added an additional repeat of the underarm shift.
Jessica (@jwalldesignco)
Size 5, with bust darts.
Knit in a bamboo cotton yarn.
Ashley (@Ashyknitting)
Size 2, 2.25” bust dart.
Knit in K+C | Knit and Crochet Essential (100% Cotton).
Ashley shortened the body to 7” from the underarm.
Denise (@3520tucson)
Size 7, with bust darts.
Knit in HiKoo Kenzington (60% Merino, 25% Nylon, 10% Alpaca, 5% Silk).
Denise worked an additional repeat of waist shaping and added 4” in length.
“Very fast knit, nice detailed instructions and lots of options for modification.”
Sema (@orgumelekleri)
Size 3, without bust darts.
Knit in 100% Cotton.
“The pattern is perfect for summer. It is a fast and lovely design. Although I’m a fan of written instructions, I became a fan of the crystal clear charts of the pattern. Highly recommended for someone, looking quick, fit, and perfect camisole.”
Claire (@theShonkyStitch)
Size 4, with 4” bust darts.
Knit in Scheepjes Calista (100% Cotton).
“If you want a gorgeous top that fits you perfectly, trust the pattern. It’s made to take you where you need to be. If you’re looking for a flexible design with great structure and lots of options, then this is your top. I particularly loved the optional bust shaping. I’m normally small of waist, large of bust and most patterns don’t consider this.”
Keriann (@RunningAmuckDesigns)
Size 2, without bust darts, straight body option.
Knit in Cascade Cantata (70% Cotton, 30% Merino).
Keriann shortened the top to 7.5” from the underarm.
“Great detailed directions. Celine is always so thoughtful with pattern layout and sizing. My top looks so clean and professional.”
Ioana (@Boldodeea)
Size 3, without bust darts.
Knit in Drops Muskat (100% Cotton).
“As always, I will always say go for it! All of your patterns are well written, detailed, and your help in answering any questions is great!”
Agnes (@aggies_knitting_corner)
Size 2, with 3 cm bust darts.
Pink version knit in Rosarios 4 Damasco (70% Cotton, 30% Linen).
Teal version knit in Drops Paris (
Agnes lengthened the camisoles slightly, picked up 90% of the recommended stitches for the I-cords, worked a 3 stitch instead of 2 stitch I-cord, and worked a standard bind off instead of an Italian bind off.
“Rib It is a lovely camisole, perfect for the summer months. The pattern is wonderfully constructed with drawing, charts, and detailed schematics that are very helpful. Even though the pattern looks a bit intimidating at first sight, it is very easy to follow and I would recommend it to any knitter at any skill level, from adventurous beginner to experienced knitter.”
