Four Seasons Camisole Sizing
If not working any body shaping, choose the size that will best fit your full bust measurement. The camisole is meant to be worn with 20% negative ease (lace and ribbing versions) / 10% negative ease (cabled version). Multiply your full bust circumference by .8 / .9 for your ideal camisole circumference.
If you do plan to work body shaping, or your hips / waist and bust fall in different sizes, choose the size that will fit your body best at the hem, then work the optional body shaping to get to the target bust circumference. The shaping instructions will change the camisole by 1 size, and can be worked multiple times.
Finished garment circumference:
23.25”, 27.25”, 31”, (35”, 38.75”, 42.75”) {46.5”, 50.5”, 54.25”, 58.25”} / 58 cm, 68 cm, 77.5 cm, (87.5 cm, 97 cm, 106.5 cm) {116.5 cm, 126 cm, 136 cm, 145.5 cm}
If your bust measures 50” / 125 cm, and you plan to knit the ribbed or lace versions, you would want to make a camisole that measures ~40” / 100 cm. That’s in between sizes 5 and 6, and I would recommend knitting size 5. This would result in ~23% negative ease.
If making the cabled version, aim for a camisole that measures ~45” / 112.5 cm. This falls between sizes 6 and 7, and I would recommend knitting size 7. This would result in ~7% negative ease. The cabled fabric is less stretchy, which is why I recommend less negative ease, and sizing up if between sizes.
My Lace and Cabled versions are size 2, and worn with 28% negative ease. You can see that the cabled version is rather tight.
My ribbed version is size 3, and worn with 12% negative ease.
