Vanilla Kite Heel Socks Sizing
8 sizes: 34, 42, 50, (58, 66, 74) {82, 90} stitches
The socks are meant to be 14% smaller in circumference than your actual foot. Measure around the widest part of your foot, and multiply by .86 for the ideal sock circumference.
Choose the size closest to your ideal sock circumference. If between sizes, size down. If you prefer less negative ease, the heel will need to be made smaller, or it will end up too loose. The modifications guidelines walk you through how to do this.
Finished Sock Circumference: 4”, 5”, 6”, (6.75”, 7.75”, 8.75”) {9.75” 10.5”} / 10 cm, 12.5 cm, 14.5 cm, (17 cm, 19.5 cm, 22 cm) {24 cm, 26.5 cm}
Please see the size chart and schematic in the photos for more details.
This pattern is written to work with a variety of gauges, so that you can use anything from fingering to DK weight yarn. Start by choosing your yarn and needle combination, then count your stitches per 1” / 2.5 cm. If it’s not 8.5 stitches, use the alternate gauge tables. Find your stitches per 1” / 2.5 cm in the grey column, follow that row across to see the sock circumference of each size at your gauge.
