Wicker Dreams Top Test Knitters

Check out this fabulous round up of some of the test knitters who kindly knit the Wicker Dreams Top. We learned a lot about the behavior of plant fibers, the pattern has been adjusted accordingly.

Jenifer (@JeniferStitches)

Size 3, 1” bust dart.

Knit in Kelbourne Woolens Mojave (60% Cotton, 40% Linen) in the color ‘Smoke Gray’.

”This pattern is so much fun! The instructions are extremely thorough, clear, and easy to follow and customize, and the top is cuuuuuute. It’s so versatile because you could dress it up or down, or even create a more casual or dressier version just by changing the sheen of the yarn. The fit is body skimming in all the right ways, and I love how it nips in at the waist. I definitely knit this up much more quickly than I thought I would, and I think this is a great pattern for an advanced-beginner to challenge themself with new techniques. This is a new wardrobe staple for me!”

Senéad (@SeneadKailyn)

Size 1, 2” bust dart.

Knit in Kelbourne Woolens Mojave (60% Cotton, 40% Linen) in the color ‘Natural’.

Anna Lena lengthened the cuff slightly. She also added the purl ridge to the lace trimmings.

”A surprisingly quick yet intricate knit (once you get through the yoke!) This has to be my all time favourite knitted top to date. I’ve already worn it so many times that I decided to cast on another one in a different colour to make more outfits with.”

Alison (@alisewnjoy)

Size 3, 2” bust dart.

Knit in Hamanaka Flax Ly (67% Linen, 33% Cotton).

Alison worked some additional increases after joining in the round, and added additional hip shaping.

“A polished and delightful tank with an engaging motif and thoughtfully written pattern. Perfect for summer fibers.”

Noel (@Noel.Knits)

Noel modified the front neckline into a crew neck. Check out their ravelry project page for how they did it!

Shanna (@love__joy__make)

Shanna worked less waist shaping than written in the pattern.

Tina (@prismhandiworks)

Size 6, 4” bust dart.

Knit in Knit Picks Comfy Sport (75% Cotton, 25% Acrylic).

Tina worked additional waist shaping, and added length.

“This pattern is a fun way to get a unique tank and experience inclusion of body shaping, including bust darts, in a garment. The range of bust dart sizes available in this, and other pattern’s of yours, is the most expansive I’ve encountered thus far from a designer.”

Pratheeksha (@pratheeksha.mallikarjun)

Size 1, with bust darts.

Long Dog Yarn Merino Sport (100% Superwash Merino).

Pratheeksha worked additional waist shaping, and worked fewer rounds between decrease rounds.

Steph (@ChitBySteph)

Size 7, without bust darts.

Hobbii Cotton Kings Cone 500 (100% Cotton).

“When I first saw the post to pattern test, I was drawn to the wicker stitch. Being completely transparent, I almost didn’t apply since I’d never done the stitch before but the whole reason I started pattern testing was to try new things! I am so happy that I applied, because this pattern is so well written and I didn’t have any issues following along! I was able to make a gorgeous top that works so well for the New York summer I’m currently experiencing and have received so many compliments!”

Additional Thoughts

Here’s what a few more testers had to say:

”It’s not as daunting as it looks, the wicker stitch is really satisfying to knit once you get used to it and if you trust the pattern, you’ll end up with a really excellently fitting summer top, that looks store bought!”  -Emily Roberts (@emily_knits_), Size 6 with bust darts.

“Great pattern for a first time body shaping. Lovely summer knit, pattern is well written with good diagrams to keep on track.” -Denise (@3520Tucson), Size 8 with bust darts.

“This is an engaging pattern, a fun knit. I enjoyed the construction and seeing how it developed!” -Kassia Riggs (@KassiaRiggs), Size 4.

“I would highly recommend your patterns because tgey are very well written and the techniques are impeccable. They are like following a class in the comfort of our home.” -Lyne Leroux (@LyneLeroux007), Size 4.

“This pattern is a fantastic choice if anyone is looking to challenge themselves with a new construction and tailoring their FO to their own body. I flew through this project in no time at all, and it was such an enjoyable experience the whole way through. Oh, and swatching is always important, but definitely for this pattern :)” -Sophie (@ThinkAboutKnit), Size 1, no bust darts.

“I fell in love with the garment at first sight. I really like the look as at least in my business it works as business casual and it can be totally worn even dressed up with a suit. The construction is awesome and keeps you going to get then to the cruising part of stockinette right on spot when the wicker stitches get tiring. The fit is awesome with a lot of options to adjust to your body and that makes it a wonderful piece of wardrobe - classy.” -Barbara (@Phlaemmle)
